Marion Emily Angus was born in Sunderland in 1865 but spent most of her childhood in Arbroath, where her father was the minister. She moved to Aberdeen with her and sister and mother after his death but returned to Arbroath in 1945 and died there in 1946. She turned to a writing career late in life, publishing her first collection, 'The Lilt and other verses' in 1922; her last collection, 'Lost Country' was published in 1937. After her death 'Selected Poems of Marion Angus' was published in 1950.
